As of January 2020, Missouri had an estimated 6,527 persons experiencing homelessness on any given day, as reported by Continuums of Care to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Of that total, 664 or 10.7 percent were designated unaccompanied young adults aged 18-24
Of the 6 regions in the state of Missouri (Northwest, Northeast, Southeast, Southwest, Kansas City, and St Louis) in 2019, there were 4,312 children who experienced some form of out of home placement in residential, foster or relative care. 26 percent were located in our Southeast Region.
Family Matters2 Transition center is focused on unaccompanied youth ages 18-23 who are at risk for homelessness, abuse or neglect. After aging out of the system, they are in need of assistance with making the difficult transition to adult life.
Family Matters2 offers a step by step transition plan that assists youth with:
finding low income housing, life skills training, budgeting, employment, High School or college prep, and accessing medical and community resources.
We offer comprehensive services for at-risk and homeless families.
